Hyperopia (being farsighted) is indicated by plus sign, +, at the beginning of a glasses or contact lens prescription. It is one of the more common vision problems affecting patients in Raleigh-Durham, NC and worldwide.
When the eyeball is too short or the focusing power of the lens is too weak, light is focused behind the retina. This error, called hyperopia (or being farsighted), causes blurry vision up close.
Hyperopia can be corrected by contacts and/or prescription eyeglasses as well as LASIK, or PRK surgery.
