Reach the Full Potential of Your Vision - Your Personal Best Vision™
Just like a fingerprint, each person's vision is 100 percent unique to their eyes. Before the recent advancements in technology, doctors were only able to use standard measurement to correct vision. With the CustomVue™ procedure, no two "prescriptions" are identical.
CustomVue™ can measure and correct the unique imperfections of each individual's vision and provide them with the potential to experience better vision than is possible with glasses or contact lenses - personal best vision.
Taking the Mystery Out of Laser Vision Correction
The laser vision correction process begins with a consultation with your doctor where a patient can learn about the technology and the procedure. An evaluation follows to assess a patient's overall health and to measure and create a detailed and unique map of their eyes. Once it's confirmed that an individual is a good candidate for laser vision correction, the procedure can be scheduled.
On the day of the procedure, anesthetic drops are placed into the patient's eyes. The patient's unique correction information is transferred from the WaveScan™ to the laser. Laser vision correction works by gently reshaping the cornea with the cool beam from the laser to remove microscopic amounts of tissue - less than the thickness of a human hair in most cases - to create a new curvature. The procedure typically takes several seconds and the majority of individuals feel only mild discomfort and slight sensitivity to light. Many patients notice immediate results after CustomVue and their vision continues to improve over several days. Routine follow-up visits complete the process.
Great Results by Day and by Night
Treatments are available for a variety of patients including those with astigmatism, whether the astigmatism is associated with nearsightedness, farsightedness or mixed astigmatism. As a result, more than 94 percent of the eligible population are potential candidates for this life-altering procedure.
Additionally, most patients in clinical studies were very satisfied with their night vision after the procedure as compared to their night vision before with glasses or contact lenses.
Are You a Candidate for LASIK?
The ideal candidate includes those who:
- Are over 18 years of age and have a stable glasses or contact lens prescription for at least two years
- Have sufficient corneal thickness. A LASIK patient should have a cornea that is thick enough to allow the surgeon to safely create a clean corneal flap of appropriate depth
- Are affected by one of the common types of vision problems or refractive error - myopia (nearsightedness), hyperopia (farsightedness), or a combination thereof (e.g., myopia with astigmatism)
- Do not suffer from any disease, vision-related or otherwise, that may reduce the effectiveness of the surgery or the patient's ability to heal properly and quickly
- Are adequately informed about the benefits and risks of the procedure. Candidates should thoroughly discuss the procedure with their physicians and understand that for most people, the goal of refractive surgery should be the reduction of dependency on glasses and contact lenses, not their complete elimination
Of course, the best way to determine your candidacy for laser vision correction is to have a complimentary screening. We offer a comprehensive evaluation at no cost to you.
Frequently Asked Questions about Advanced CustomVue LASIK™
What is Advanced CustomVue™ laser vision correction?
Advanced CustomVue is an individualized laser vision correction procedure that enables a doctor to measure unique imperfections in a person's eye and design an individualized treatment.
How does Advanced CustomVue™ individualized laser vision correction differ from standard LASIK?
The Advanced CustomVue™ procedure uses Wavescan™ technology to measure the unique imperfections in your eye 25 times more precisely than the measurement method used in standard LASIK. The Wavescan™ System creates a digital map of your eye, which is as unique as your fingerprint. Your surgeon then transfers this precise data directly to a VISXT laser, where it is used to custom tailor your individualized treatment.
What is Iris Registration Technology?
It's normal for the pupil to shift positions from the time your eye is measured and the time of treatment. Iris registration technology centers the treatment correctly, independent of changes in the pupil center from measurement to treatment.
What can I expect from Advanced CustomVue™?
As shown in an FDA clinical study, the Advanced CustomVue™ procedure has the potential to produce better vision than is possible with glasses and contact lenses.
In order to decide whether you're a good candidate for LASIK, your eye doctor will examine your eyes to determine their health and what procedure would be best for you.
